This film starts with Jack Sparrow trying to rescue his best mate, Joshamee Gibbs, in London, but he fails and is taken before King George II. The King wants Jack to guide an expedition to the Fountain of Youth before the Spanish get there.

Jack escapes. He reveals that someone is pretending to be him. He finds that it is Angelica, who was Jack's lover, and the daughter of the ruthless pirate Blackbeard. Jack is taken aboard Blackbeard's ship.
