The Railway Children - Living near a railway line

If I live near a railway line, I would think about going on a trip often. When I see people on a train, I wonder where they will go and who they are. It is a kind of magic of train that people forget about their real life and dream to go to a new world, just for a while.

When I lived in California, there was a canyon near my house. And under the canyon there was a railway line. Sometimes I saw the trains running and my children were excited to see them. It was nice to see trains running through the canyon.

For people who live in a country, trains associate journey and admiration for the city. But, for the people who live in a city, trains are daily transportation. In the big city like Tokyo, train comes every 5 minutes. It must be very noisy to live near the railway line in a city. When I go to Tokyo by train, I can see many houses very near the railway line. I always think it will be very difficult for me to live near the railway line. Because of noise and light I feel restless and can't sleep well at night.

Postcard from... San Francisco, California, U.S.A.

Hi Jim-sensei,

I'm in San Francisco. I got a chance to stay here for two nights during business trip.
Before I came here I thought it is sunny and warm. It is sunny, but windy and COLD than I expected.
It is like early winter!
I went to some view points and took pictures.
I'll share them once I return!

Postcard from... Los Angeles, California

Dear Jim,

The Biz Conference in Los Angeles was successfully completed as scheduled.

In last night of stay in L.A. I enjoyed a good American steak. It was very very big and thick!! It was three times as large as Japanese size!

After reading "Deadly Holiday" - Write about a trip you made with them when you were afraid.

Is there someone you know who drives badly?

I traveled to Los Angeles with my friends to meet our classmate of high school. It was second visit to LA but it was difficult to catch what they are speaking. My friend lived a small city near LA. She took us to go to a lot of place by her car. One day we went to the outlet stores where placed between LA and Las Vegas. In the way going back to her room, we talked a lot of things and she found she was going to be missed the gate to get out the highway. She turned the handle to right side suddenly and all of us in the car was floated. I felt I was going to die when I was floated!

STRONG MEDICINE

I had read this book. It is interesting for me. I recommend reading this book.
After reading No.1: “What do you think happens to Mark Latto and Sylvia Koning next?”

Mark returned to UK once, and continued Parkinson's disease research during six months. Sylvia kept researching the same disease which was done by Spencer in California. To take time to research alone, Sylvia asked for help to Mark. Mark moved to California for her invitation and they kept researching the disease. At last the research reached at Spencer's level. The patients who had Parkinson's disease in the world were pleased that they announced the result of their research.
Mark and Sylvia lived together by continuing this research, he got on with her, and they will get married. It’s a happy end.
