Old Flames!

I try to avoid going to the office as much as I can on Sundays...I spend enough working Sundays away from home with exams & JALT.

But, I would drop everything for Ayako if asked - and she asked. As she came up the stairs with her big sister - last taught by Anna-sensei - we found her YLE Starters certificate on the wall. 2004??? Blimey! I need to get a new speil for my YLE training courses, as I often cite Ayako in them. She is profoundly deaf, yet trampled the listening & speaking parts of that test (you'll have to delve into this blog's archives for more). She is one of my heroes.

Already at uni, Aya-chan wants to study English again - overseas. I could help her easily if the British government had not started this ridiculous visa restriction that any potential English language learners have to already have at least KET. OK, so I am also one of the few school owners who knows what that is...and I also know that Cambridge English Language Assessment (formerly the artist known as ESOL) will enable her to take the test alongside fully-hearing candidates.

I am very excited that 'little' Ayako is going to bite off another massive chunk off "Can Do", and tackle a totally foreign country. Once again, this brave chick is doing a Captain Kirk, and boldly going...so inspiring!

The hero

The hero toby is a curious, smart boy.
Moreover,he also helped people in need,so he is a very gentle child.
This book describes how he solved two cases by using his brain
while he went to delivernewspapers.
It was interesting to read the book from beginning to end, because the end is uncertain.

Terry Fox

Terry's "Marathon of Hope" starts at St. John's, Newfoundland (Canada) on April 12, 1980. His friend, Doug Alward, is his (support) driver. He put his leg into the Atlantic Ocean. If he runs, he can give money to kids who have cancer and help them.

The marathon finishes at Thunder Bay (Ontario), because there is a bad pain in his lungs. The cancer has spread. Now there is a statue of him there (pictured). He is facing west, running towards his home in British Columbia.(Terry died a month before his 23rd birthday)

The first Terry Fox Run was in Canada, in week three of September, 1981. There are lots of Terry Fox Runs all over Canada. Young and old, healthy and sick, two-legged people and people in wheelchairs all take part in it to raise money for cancer research.

He is an amazing person because he ran a very long way with only one good leg, to help people who have cancer. He is a Hero. We did a Terry Fox Run in my old school in Beijing every year.

The Mark of Zorro

Its story is interesting. Zorro fought with bad people and he won.
It is a story of the hero. I was interested to Miss Lolita. She is heroin in this story.
I think she is very cute and wise. Some man proposes to her. She dose not select rich man and strong solder. She loves to Zorro. Zorro masked him face. Why does she love?
I think that she was very surprised when she understood that Zorro is Don Diego.
I want to meet the woman like her.

I knew “Mask of Zorro”. It is a movies title. I look this book at first. This book’s title is mistake. I learnt that this story’s original title is “Mark of Zorro.” Zorro marked “Z” on Roman’s face with his sword. I thought his trade mark is his mask before reading this book. Now, I think his trade mark is mark of “Z”. It is interesting to compare the movie with the original. I will compare other stories.
