Dear Cornish Giant,

The spring's here at last. The Hail stopped and the North Wind is quiet. There is a wonderful perfume. The trees are happy because the children are back. The birds are singing happily in the sky. The flowers are coming out of the ground and the children are laughing.

My Thai food safari

Green curry

I went to Thailand to meet my husband last week. We enjoyed a lot of delicious Thai food in Bangkok. I would like to tell you about Thai food.

We ate a lot of spicy food in nice restaurants:

• green curry - it has coconut milk, chicken, and vegetables in it. Delicious!
• Tom Yam Kum - this is a soup, with chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, lemongrass, coriander, and chilli peppers. A little hot!
• Thai noodles - Like Japanese ramen, but with different kinds of noodles. Cheap!

We ate lots of mangoes, mango sticky rice, and mango smoothies.

Pad Thai

We tried Chinese Shark Fin soup (very nice, and a little expensive). I love Pad Thai (fried noodles with minced pork, spring onions, peanuts & lime juice). 

We drank mineral water because you can't drink tap water in Thailand - it's too dirty. 

I like Thai food, a little, because it's interesting. It is not too hot, and it is cheap.

Postcard from Astana, Kazakhstan

Dear Jim,

An apartment block in Astana

I went to Astana in Kazakhstan. There was Asia rhythmic gymnastics competition and I was working as Japan's judge. Our team won the gold medal. There were a lot of great performances over five days. I was very busy. 

Astana is a very beautiful city. There is a lot of development, with big buildings and apartments in the center. My hotel was lovely my room was large and the bed was really comfortable. At night there was a big light show.

Kazakh people eat a lot of horse meat. I did not like it very much, but other food was ok. I could eat egg-plant, gherkin, and coriander.

I made a lot of new friends, from Iran, Singapore, Thailand, India, North Korea, and Taiwan.

The weather was great - sunny every day but nice and cool. I like Kazakhstan but it is a very long way; I had to wait for seven hours in Tashkent.

Hi! Hope all is well with you.

I have come to Thailand to have a husband with mother now.

Thailand is still very warm!

We came a lot watching the attractions.

This postcard is Wat Mahathat. Of course, this also came to watch. This is very beautiful and mysterious. Do you have that you also saw?

Sweet watermelon home, Hata

Hata is about 250㎞ north west of the capital,Tokyo. Hata is in a region called the Shinetsu and Japanese Alps. It is one of the most beautiful regions in the country. There are big Water Melon fields, bueatiful mountains ,transparent blue Azusa river.

The Watermelons from Hata are very very sweet and they are expensive.

Our winters are very cold and dry, and it snows less than Hakuba. Our Summers are quite hot and dry.

I'm sorry, there is not a photo of Hata.

My learning biography :)

I'm studying English at the moment. It's the second most important language in Japan, and I want to travel to the Olympics in Brazil & Russia.

I go to English classes once a week. We have a coursebook, and I always study it if I have got a free moment, in the car for example. I'm going to read English books and watch English DVDs.

Self-portraits on Tuesday

 I have found a cool app (multi lens) which I managed to find a use for yesterday!

 We are about to start a new book, and I figured we could personalise our inside covers as well as remember how to spell our names. I always think it is nice to showcase the children's work anyway, as regular readers will know. It is also cool to look back sometimes and reflect - that was me?!
