My Favourite day of the week is Saturday, because it's the weekend!
I usually get up late. Then I have breakfast and watch TV.
After breakfast I often do housework.
I often do the cleaning and the wasing.
I usually have lunch in my house, but I sometimes have lunch with my friend at a restaurant
or at my parents' house.
After lunch I often go shopping or take a nap.
I often cook dinner and eat with my husband.
But I sometimes go to drink with my friend or husband.
In the evening I drink beer!
After dinner I watch TV.Then I take a bath before twelve o'clock.
English language school in the heart of the Japanese Alps, and English language learners sharing their experiences online. Teachers post regular items about teaching, learning tools, events in the school, their day to day experiences living & working in a foreign country. Students post on whatever takes their fancy - book reports, festivals in home towns, postcards from business trips etc. A little Brit of England in the guts of Japan!

Learning first letter sounds with Quizlet - on the desk, tablet, phone, online, offline, in bed....and now with your teacher's voice!
Yesterday afternoon, I spent most of the afternoon in between my kindy classes and my evening job, whipping together a series of flashcard sets for our new kindy+ class on Saturday afternoons. I did start this job on Monday, with a whole day ahead of me to scan, get creative, add audio etc...blog post coming very soon (more a rant, really) explaining why that did not go to plan! It took me an extra 24 hours to finish the job I thought would be finished by Monday lunchtime...
Quizlet, people, Quizlet. I love Quizlet. Last week I noticed I had made 666 sets of flashcards. That is a lot, but I was actually worried about the number - especially as we have recently hired Damian as well! He's fine by the way...I checked - he thinks the ceilings are leaking, but it's actually Holy Water!
Anyway, exciting new class on Saturdays needed a bunch of online support from us, especially as mums are iPhone savvy and keen to boost learning and language exposure outside of class. Each unit is now supported with a dedicated set of flashcards (our own audio being added this week, a big improvement on the computer generated default setting previously), and a number of extra sets with built in variety/increased challenges. Of course we use actual flashcards in class - and how! - and the children have their own sets...but who to play with at home?!
Here is a sample of a larger set, asking learners to match a group of images to a letter of the alphabet which has their first/initial sound in common. Easier to do than explain - take a look, have a try!
What do you think? Here is the link to the other 'sets' in the 'class' http://quizlet.com/class/965611/ What other sets would you like us to add? Which feature do you like the best?
Why not register for a free Quizlet account for free at www.quizlet.com and join this class - or any of the other classes we have created?
We'd love to know what you think...use the comment tab!

Mr.T's busy Saturday
I had a great time playing with my friends.
Before I left the house I got the ball and the Frisbee , and I got in to the
car and I went to the park. First we
played football. I was the playing with “Yutaro”, “Junnosuke” and “Riki”. I was
the keeper and I saved some shots, but they scored one goal. Then we played “it”.
We ran away from the person who was “it”. I climbed a tree and over fences. We ran a lot so we got really tired. After that,
I went home and then I went to the foot ball practice. I was very tired , but I ran and saved a goal. In the afternoon I
had kendo practice. After kendo I was
really tired. In the end, I went home and ate dinner, and I slept.

G'day Matt
Today we welcome Matt to our ranks. I have known Matt for several years, and it's about time he joined Luna's teaching staff. I should thank Jon for reminding me.
Matt will be teaching most of our Saturday classes for us; we are hoping he'll be able to do so for a good while. Like Yuki & I, Matt also has a young child to look after. Unlike Jim, Matt can actually speak Japanese. However, Matt is an Aussie...
Matt has already met our Saturday roll-call of stars - here he is with Ayako and Mai-chan. Ayako is deaf, which is why she's covering her eye! (Actually, it was funny; these two are old-time buddies but studying independently. They wanted to gossip about their new teacher but couldn't - Matt & I were listening. What did they do? Bloody sign language!)
Saturday at Luna - looks good!
