My Great Uncle Hiroaki

Of all my relatives, I like my Uncle Hiroaki. He’s my mother’s youngest brother. Sadly, I said my final goodbye to him last year. Today, I’d like to write something about his life.

He was very tall (actually over 200cm!) and used to play basketball in his school days and early years after joining his company. He played any sports quite well, and he often used to play catch with my younger brother and me when we were children.

He majored in electricity when he was a high school student. After graduating from high school, he got a job at a big electronics company in Hitachi, Ibaraki, in Japan. He had been working hard and got a lot of patents there. And he built his own house and spent a long time of his life.

He was very kind to his family, including me. I was pleased when he got back to his hometown Nagano and had some dishes with him. When I visited his house, he feasted me with lots of tomatoes and cucumbers from his garden. Also, he kept a lot of pets, such as rabbits and dogs. His last dog was now in his older brother’s house. Every time I see her that reminds me of my great Uncle Hiroaki.

Where I live - Nakayama-dai, Matsumoto

I live in Nakayama-Dai, which is a town in the south east of Matsumoto city.

It has a population of 5,000 people.

It’s a quiet residential area, which the city organized 1,200 lands for sale in lots in 1985.

The weather here is different from the central of Matsumoto.The summer is cool, but winter is snowy.

There is nothing Nakayama-Dai famous in this new residential area.

I like living here because I have family.

Where I live - Azusagawa

1. I live in Azusagawa, which is a town in the west of Matsumoto city of Nagano prefecture in Japan. It has a population of approximately 12000 people. It has been combined to Matsumoto city since 2005.

2. It’s a beautiful town, and it has enough nature, mountain and river. There is a big river. It is Azusa River. It runs from Kamikochi and finally runs into the Sea of Japan through Nagano and Niigata. Although my town is rural place that has a lot of farm, it is increasing population recently. Because it has inexpensive land price and is nearby Matsumoto downtown. It is becoming commuter town of Matsumoto.

3. The weather here is dependent on every season. The rain is less than other city nearby coast. The winter can be very cold and dry, and it sometimes snow for days. The summer is not usually too hot. But it’s sometimes can be hot recently. Perhaps the reason is the warming earth.
4. Azusagawa has a lot of apple farm that is most popular in Nagano and these Apples are sending out to all around of Japan. There are a lot of kinds of apple. Above all things, Fuji is the most delicious and popular.

5. But I think the best things about Azusagawa are the atmosphere and the water. They are clean. I can see stars clearly at night in winter. I can drink cold water all the year round.

Describing a building in my hometown

The most beautiful building in my hometown are the shrine "Suwataisya". They are "Honmiya", "Maemiya", "Akimiya" and "Harumiya". "Honmiya" and "Maemiya" are in Suwa city. "Akimiya" and "Harumiya" are in Shimosuwa town. I describe about "Harumiya". "Harumiya" was built by Nagazaemon Shibamiya in 1780. It was near the river "Togawa". It is the smallest building in other 3 of "Suwataisya". It is a wooden building. The sculpture is wonderful and famous.

We don't usually get in the building. We can get in it when we do special event which for example, "Shichigosan", wedding and so on. There is no view, because the building is enclosed by a lot of tall trees. Therefore, it is very cool because of shade in summer. "Harumiya" is near my house, I usually walk to there with my children.
